Most domain names have a feature called "Registrar Lock" that protects them from being transferred unexpectedly and without authorisation. When a domain name has the registrar lock enabled, it cannot be transferred, even if someone has the current EPP code.

This feature is not available for some TLDs and many ccTLDs, so if you see a warning in our client area that the domain is unlocked and you are unable to enable the registrar lock, then the respective TLD most probably doesn't support this feature.

How to Enable / Disable the Registrar Lock

You can lock and unlock a domain name in your client area, as follows:

  1. Login to our client area at https://my.maxer.com
  2. In the top navigation bar, click on the "Domains" page
  3. Find your domain in the list and click on the 'Manage' button besides it
  4. In the left sidebar under the 'Manage' section, click on the 'Registrar Lock' tab
  5. Under 'Registrar Lock Status:', set it to ON if you don't plan to transfer your domain now, or to OFF if you intend to transfer your domain now.

A common security practice is to always keep the registrar lock enabled and only enable it when you actually need to transfer the domain.

If you cannot enable or disable this feature, then the TLD does not support this feature. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please contact us.
