We know the email set up for email can be tricky, so here is a handy guide to help you along for your Android!

  1. From your phone go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Add account > Email.
  2. Select "Other"
  3. Enter your full email address
  4. Enter the password for your email address
  5. Tap on "Sign in"
  6. The setup will check for auto setup information and will prefill it on the next steps
  7. Select the account type
IMAP account: IMAP will store all the emails on the server and save a cached copy on your phone (highly recommended)
POP3 account: POP3 will download the emails from the server and store them on your phone only (not recommended)
  8. Most email apps will autofill the incorrect incoming and outgoing server configuration. You will need to assure that the following settings are applied:
    • Account
      • Email address: you@yourdomain.tld
      • Username: you@yourdomain.tld
      • Password: your email account password
    • Incoming server
      • IMAP / POP3 server: mail.yourdomain.tld
      • Security type: SSL
      • Port: 993 for IMAP / 995 for POP3
      • IMAP path prefix (if shown): leave empty
    • Outgoing server
      • SMTP server: mail.yourdomain.tld
      • Security type: SSL
      • Port: 465
      • Require authentication to send emails: enabled
      • Username: you@yourdomain.tld
      • Password: your email account password
    • Replace you@yourdomain.tld with your actual email address and mail.yourdomain.tld with your actual domain.
  9. Tap on "Sign in"

By default, your email account should synchronise automatically and retrieve emails when received. Depending on your email app, you can adjust certain settings, such as the displayed name, email sync schedule, which folders to sync, retrieval size limit, set an email signature, etc. Please open the settings of your email app or check the app documentation for further information.

If you can receive emails but cannot send emails - or vice-versa - please assure that you have entered the same username and password for both, the incoming and outgoing server. The credentials are always the same for both of them.

Please note: If you enter the above settings incorrectly, our firewall may block your IP address after too many failed attempts and you would no longer have access to our server. Please assure that you enter the correct credentials and server settings. If your IP address was blocked and you can no longer access the server, please refer to this guide: Unblock IP Address From One of our Servers - Maxer
